About Incheon International Airport

Incheon International Airport is the largest airport in South Korea, the primary airport serving the Seoul Capital Area, and one of the largest and busiest airports in the world. The airport was officially opened in March 2001. Since 2005, it has been rated the best airport worldwide by Airports Council International every year. It is also rated as the world’s cleanest airport and the world’s best international transit airport by Skytrax.

The airport holds an unbreakable record of being ranked the Best Airport Worldwide for 7 consecutive years by the Airports Council International (ACI)’s Airport Service Quality award from 2005 to 2011, and was also rated the world’s best among airports of its size (25-40m) and region (Asia-Pacific) in 2012 due to the institution’s decision to discontinue the Best Airport Worldwide category.Seoul Incheon International Airport’s terminal has 76 boarding gates altogether, with 44 in the main terminal and 30 in Concourse A. Incheon International Airport is the world’s sixth largest cargo airport with the capacity to park 24 aircraft simultaneously.

Incheon Airport Tips

Here are some quick tips to know before you head to the airport: 

  • Incheon Airport has two terminals: Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. These terminals can be reaches by taxi, the railroad express, or a free shuttle. Before going to the alternate terminal, you must clear customs and again before your departure on the other side. The ride between the terminals can take about 15-20 minutes so plan accordingly.
  • There are various entertainment including music, dance, and traditional dress that take place near different gates in both terminals. 
  • There are many booths at the arrivals hall where you can buy Korean SIM cards or mobile WIFI units. 
  • There are some lounges, restaurants, and coffee shops that are open for 24 hours but most are open from 6 AM to 10 PM
  • You will be able to find many ATMS, currency exchange booths, tourist information stands, post offices, pharmacies, and even a dry cleaner.
