Where Can I Travel After the Covid Vaccine?
For starters, fully vaccinated people are welcome to travel domestically within the United States. However, we do stress looking into each state’s guidelines before making your travel reservations. For example, Hawaii requires a 10-day quarantine for all visitors, unless they provide proof of a negative Covid test prior to arriving on the island.
Interested in traveling outside of the United States? In terms of traveling to the European Union, currently, there are either bans or very strict regulations regarding Americans entering European countries. However, on April 25, 2021, the head of the European Commission announced that they hope to lift many of these restrictions in the near future, but no exact date or details were provided.
With that said, there are several European countries and territories that are welcoming vaccinated Americans, including Greece, Iceland, Croatia, and Cyprus. A couple of other countries have also recently opened up their borders to vaccinated American travelers, such as Georgia, Montenegro, and Serbia.
For those looking for a more tropical vacation, destinations like the Virgin Islands, Antigua and Barbuda, the Dominican Republic, French Polynesia, and the Bahamas are now welcoming travelers from abroad. You can also fly to coastal destinations in Mexico, such as Cancun, but the U.S.-Mexican border remains closed to those entering Mexico in a vehicle or on foot.
Prefer to travel to an Asian territory or country? Currently, only a handful of countries are open for tourism, such as the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Nepal. You will also come across several Central and South American countries that are welcoming tourists like Ecuador, Guatemala, and Nicaragua.
As mentioned above, these destinations may have opened their borders to travelers, but some may still have rules you are required to follow, such as showing your vaccination card, providing a negative test, or quarantining after arriving.
As more people become vaccinated and the number of Covid cases decreases, more countries and territories are likely to open up to vaccinated American travelers. More and more destinations are opening their borders each day, so keep an eye on the news.
