This was the first direct democratic elections.

Maastricht Treaty (1992-present)

The Maastricht Treaty was formally established by the European Union. The main architects were Helmut Kohl, and Francois Mitterrand came into strength on November 1, 1993. Austria, Finland Sweden joined the European Union in 1995.
