The New Orleans Saints, a professional and experienced American football team, is based and established in New Orleans, Louisiana. The team presently plays and competes in the National Football League (NFL) as one of the members of the National Football Conference league (NFC) in the South Division. In the city of New Orleans, the New Orleans Saints was established and founded by Mr. John W. Mecom Jr. and Mr. David Dixon. The Saints started playing and competing in the year 1967 at the Tulane Stadium.

The name “Saints” is a quotation to November 1 being the All Saints Day in the Catholic faith and belief, New Orleans huge and massive population of the Catholic, and the divine and the metaphysical “When the Saints Go Marching In,” which is effectively related to New Orleans and most of the time sung by fans while watching the games. The main colors of the team are black and old gold. Their logo is a simplified fleur-de-lis, (a stylized lily, which is composed of three petals that bound together near their bases. It is also known from the former royal arms of France, which appears as color gold on a blue field. The New Orleans Saints played their home games at Tulane Stadium through the 1974 National Football League season. After that year, the Saints transferred to the new Louisiana Superdome (now the Mercedes-Benz Superdome)

During their first 20 years, the New Orleans Saints were hardly aggressive and ambitious; the team only got to .500 twice. In the year 1987, the team flawlessly polished 12–3 (their first-ever winning season) and qualified for the National Football League playoffs for the very first time in their franchise history, but sadly the New Orleans Saints lost to the Minnesota Vikings 44–10. The next season, which was year 1988 ended with a 10–6 record. In year 2000, the New Orleans Saints conquered and defeated their opponent St. Louis Rams 31–28 to mark their first-ever playoff win.

During the 2009 season, the New Orleans Saints considered this year as a historic one. The team won a franchise-record 13 games, which led the Saints to qualify for Super Bowl XLIV and the team defeated the American Football Conference champion Indianapolis Colts 31–17. Up to this day, it is the only Super Bowl championship that the team has won, and as it is the only Super Bowl the team has shown up, the New Orleans Saints joined the New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the only three National Football League teams to win their sole Super Bowl appearance.
