Hurricane season affects the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts of the United States from the northeastern states to the southern states. Residents of Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas should all pay extra attention to the news and weather reports during this time of year. However, the risk could extend as far north as Virginia, Maryland, and New England with the heavy rains and winds that follow on the tail end of the hurricane.
