1) Lubbock, Texas – There are several Halloween attractions in Lubbock, with the most popular and scariest being the Nightmare on 19th Street. There are four different themes for you to test your bravery this year: Blood Moon Manor, Skullick, City of the Lost, and Twisted Tales. Ticket prices vary according to number of people, and there are even VIP passes and season passes available. Nightmare on 19th Street is open Thursday, October 24 through Sunday October 27th and then again Thursday Oct 31 – Saturday November 2.
2) Salem, Massachusetts – What more appropriate destination for Halloween than the home of the Salem Witch Trials? There are haunts for the thrill-seekers such as Count Orlok’s Nightmare Gallery. There are also several tours, and museums for those interested in the history of the area. You can even participate in a re-enactment of one of the witchcraft trials- Cry Innocent: The People vs. Bridget Bishop. There is also a carnival and farmer’s market. These events are through the month of October.
3) New Orleans, Louisiana – No other city in the U.S. is more associated with partying than New Orleans. Halloween is no exception. Tours, musicals, trick or treating – New Orleans has it all! There are several haunted houses through out the city, as well as the Krewe of Boo parade, featuring 13 macabre floats. The parade is on October 26 at 6:30pm. What Halloween party would be complete without a showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show? This showing will be at 10pm and midnight on Oct 31 at the Prytania Theatre.
4) Kansas City, Missouri – The West Bottom Haunted Houses are a must-see for those seeking extreme thrills. Located just west of downtown Kansas City off the 12th St. Bridge, these houses are located in large multi-storied commercial buildings that were built around 1900. The houses are aptly named: Chambers of Poe, Edge of Hell, The Beast, and Macabre Cinema. Live snakes, rats, spiders add to the frightening experience.
