Baja California, also known as Free and Sovereign State of Baja California, is a Mexican State. Located in the north-western of the 31 Mexican states, comprise as part of the 32 Mexican Federal Entities. Prior to becoming a state in 1953; the region was also known as the North Territory of Baja California. It has a land area of 27, 071 square miles, which is 3.57% land mass of Mexico and consists the northern half of the Baja California Peninsula, north of the 28th parallel, and oceanic Guadalupe Island. The mainland part of the state is bounded by the Pacific Ocean on the west, Sonora, the Gulf of California, the State of Arizona by the East and the Baja California Sur in the south. Its northern border is the state of California.

The town of Mulege has picturesque 17th-century architecture and houses some art galleries and museums. In its southern part is the Bay of Conception that has huge strips of perfect beaches with RV and camping spots.
Ensenada
Just a 2-hour drive south of San Diego, the town of Ensenada is a perfect weekend retreat that has outdoor activities, nightspots, and great beaches. The beaches in Ensenada are famous for beginners and intermediate level surfers, and its waters are offshore offers good opportunities for sports fishermen. Authentic Mexican restaurants and fine dining fill the downtown area, and most of the cantinas and bars have lived music and dance parties. The countryside encompassing Ensenada is a host to many vineyards that’s part of the wine industry of Baja California.
