Curly Lambeau played for the Packers in his early years, and he was selected to be the team’s head coach for approximately 31 seasons through the year 1949. He died in June 1965, two months earlier when the stadium was renamed.

In 1961, four years after it opened, the renovation has started to take place. This year, the stadium’s capacity was increased to 38,669. In 1963, another renovation was made, increasing the capacity from 38,669 to 42,327. In 1965, it was increased to 50,837. After five years, it was renovated again and increased the capacity to 56,263. To form a continuous oval bowl, the north end zone was enclosed. In 1985, the construction of 72 private boxes was started increasing the seating capacity to 56,926.

In the year 2010, the Green Bay Packers announced their plans for installing new high definition scoreboards and the plans for replacing the old sound system to a new one. The new sound system was successfully finished just in time for the 2011-2012 National Football League season. Packers President Mark Murphy made an announcement that they will be expanding the Lambeau Field and this time, it will not be paid by the taxpayers however by the team itself.

In the summer of 2013, the stadium accomplished the most recent development on the renovation. Adding 7,000 seats high in the south end zone.It can accommodate the number of people with the capacity of 81,435, naming the field as the third largest stadium in the National Football League with standing room. It ranked as second in a normal capacity. This time, it is considered as the biggest and largest venue in the state of Wisconsin, placing on Camp Randall Stadium with the capacity of 80,321 which is located on the campus of the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
